Bink Bloesem

Product - Bink Bloesem
Brewed By:
Bink
Self-Defined Style:
Farmhouse Ale, Fruit Beer
Strength (ABV):
7.1% ABV

Here’s the latest from the little farmhouse brewery that is vigorously campaigning for quality and integrity in Belgian brewing. Bloesem is a celebration of the harvest, made with locally grown pears and honey. It is mellower and slightly sweeter than the normal hoppy offerings from Kerkom.

The Kerkom Brewery is a family operation built into a rambling farmhouse surrounded by Belgium’s best cherry orchards. In the summer beer lovers from all over the country come to drink fresh beer in the courtyard in front of the brewery.

Best With:
The complex fruitiness of fruit beers make them the ideal pairing with savory desserts, particularly chocolate, cream, and fruit based dishes.

Géants Noël des Géants

Product - Géants Noël des Géants
Brewed By:
Géants
Self-Defined Style:
Gruit / Spiced Beer, Winter / Holiday Beer
Strength (ABV):
8.5% ABV

The Brasserie des Géants, or Giant Brewery, is housed in a medieval castle in the town of Irchonwelz, in the French-speaking south of Belgium. The Géants Christmas beer came out in 2007, and it’s their best one yet. Rich and warming, and just a bit spicy (thanks to the delicate addition of a special aromatic herb from the region of the brewery), this festive ale has everything you want in a Belgian beer – but not the cheap sugary flavor that the more commercial breweries use to reel in a less sophisticated crowd.

Best With:
As specialty beers are typically all made with flavor enhancing ingredients, foods with complimentary ingredients are generally an ideal match. For example, pumpkin beers pair well with spiced pumpkin pie, and chocolate beers tend to work well with chocolate based desserts.

"The damn thing tried to jump up and bite me when I opened it."

- Ralph Steadman, on his encounter
with a Wild Dog brew

The Wild Dog beers come and go, as wild dogs do. These are big beers with big attitudes and if you don't show the proper respect they will bite back!

The first beer in the series, Wild Dog Double Pale Ale, was launched in 2004 to celebrate our tenth anniversary. Our DPA weighed in at 10.5% ABV and 82 IBU's, making it one of the hoppiest beers on the face of this, or any other planet.

Best With:
We love pairing the Dog Schwarz with pepper cheeses, smoked meats and barbecue.

Lakefront Pumpkin Lager

Product - Pumpkin Lager
Brewed By:
Lakefront Brewery
Self-Defined Style:
Pumpkin Lager
Strength (ABV):
6.0% ABV

In 1989, Lakefront Brewery owner, Russ Klisch was reading dusty brewing tome, tipping one of our fine lagers and came across a beer recipe that Thomas Jefferson had brewed with pumpkin at his home in Monticello.

Pours a light orange with an off-white head. Flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves meld well with a slightly sweet background that actually does taste a bit like pumpkin. Caramel and Munich malts reinforce this beer's mouthfeel and lend to the malty sweetness.

Best With:
Serve our Pumpkin Lager with holiday meals the spice characters really bring out the depth of full-flavored meats and vegetables.

Lakefront Cherry

Product - Lakefront Cherry
Brewed By:
Lakefront Brewery
Self-Defined Style:
Cherry Beer
Strength (ABV):
5.5% ABV

As refreshing as a Door County vacation! This light ruby-red beer pours with a thick, slightly pink head resulting from the ample amounts of real, juicy Door County cherries. Aromas of tart cherries lead into a nice spritzy cherry flavor, balanced by a subtle malty background and low hop bitterness. Enjoy!

Best With:
Try our cherry lager with broiled walleye or whitefish fillets, especially if they're topped with a fruit salsa. For an interesting twist, have this one on the side with plain vanilla ice cream…or if you're brave enough, try making a cherry float! Ideal serving temp: 45-47° F.

Unibroue Quelque Chose

Product - Unibroue Quelque Chose
Brewed By:
Unibroue
Self-Defined Style:
Fruit - Vegetable Beer
Strength (ABV):
8.0% ABV

Quelque Chose launched in January 1996. This versatile beer was specifically developed as a winter beer because, when warmed to 70°C (160°F), it can be taken as a hot drink. On the other hand, on the rocks, it is a wonderful aperitif. The cherries are soaked for months in slightly bitter ale before blending into the beer. Quelque Chose is made with dark roasted malts, and the result is something commonly known as an authentic nectar. The most original of the Unibroue line, it is highly appreciated by winter-sports enthusiasts.
