Avery Brewing Company is preparing for the release of Black Tot, a barrel-aged imperial oatmeal stout that is the third installment in their Barrel-Aged Series. Like all other releases in the Barrel-Aged Series, Black Tot is of limited availability, and will be released at the brewery in Boulder on Black Tot Day, which is set for January 15th, 2010.
Black Tot, No. 3 in the Barrel-Aged Series, is an Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged in Gosling's Old Rum Barrels. It features huge, chewy and endlessly deep flavors of roasted dark malts, sweet rum, espresso and more subtle elements of brown sugar, molasses and vanilla. Initial sips are bold and intense, but new flavors burst and slide into the milieu as the beer warms, drawing you deeper into the stormy heart of this most dark and tumultuous brew. Black Tot demands to be poured into your favorite glass to be pondered and appreciated. We think you'll want more than just one tot!
